HOW THE HECK DO YOU SELL TO STARBUCKS?

0a799000d67844ffa039b5cf8e71466b       I have  been working with a start-up company now for about a year and a half.

Eco-Distribution, Inc.   Among our other offerings we have a line of truly Green Cleaning products that work better than their caustic counterparts, and are just as economical.

We have been successful in winning evaluations, and been escalated to corporate procurement in several very large and notable companies, and the orders are coming in.  There is one enigma, I truly could use some help with.  We have demonstrated these cleaning products to several local Starbucks, and the managers all get very excited.  I just talked to a regional manager in California and she agreed that they absolutely fit the Ethical, Sustainable, and Green goals of the Starbucks corporation.

She then told me that I had to go to Corporate, and there were no names she could give me to help.  I spent an hour on their website, and found all sorts of documents on Corporate Responsibility, Vendor Practices, Shipping Procedures… you get the idea.  Nothing on how to become a vendor.

I tried customer service, and was on hold for a half hour to be told to call Corporate.  I called Corporate and was referred back to the customer service number.   Has anyone out there any knowledge of what the process REALLY is.  I mean, they have to buy cleaning materials from somewhere?   This stuff is a perfect fit, its new technology, and I know they can’t make it for themselves in China.

Help!!!!!

Nobody in California Works Any More

IMG_1591I am so ready to move to the country.

With the interest rates low, the wife and I are thinking very seriously about purchasing a house it lower Washington State near Portland.  I’ve lived in California all my life, and in pretty sure I will miss the weather.

I can buy a Sun lamp.

We live in a cul De SAC,  a two bedroom unit in a triplex.  It might as well be an apartment building.  Nobody works in an office any more.  I can prove it, they are all out in the yards cause its nice out, but good freaking grief!

After my workout this lunch, I went to take some sun in the back patio.  First, there are currently three neighbors working on their homes.  One next door remodeling a bathroom, one across the street repairing to list the house, and another across the  street that has been having their front deck/patio worked on for the past 8 months.  No end in sight.

The next delight comes as the tenant next door opens her slider (literally 5 feet from my head) and takes 5 minutes to coax her new puppy to go potty.  Then the girlfriends next door, after parading up the driveway talking on their blue tooth for a half hour, somehow let their dog escape.  I had to wait a good ten minutes for Dylan to be captured and returned to captivity.  All of this, about 10 feet from me on the other side of the fence.

Forget the nap in the sunshine.

Oh did I mention that its garbage day?  We live in one of those special recycling zones where they have to send a separate truck to pick up the trash, recycling, and greens.

The afternoon holds forth a symphony of lawn blowers as no fewer than three separate gardeners take a total of about an hour and a half rotating internal combustion engines.  God forbid that they ever show up at the SAME FREAKING TIME !

I’m off to Starbucks where its actually relatively quiet.  Dreaming of Salmon Creek, right outside of Vancouver Washington.  Sunshine is highly over rated.

Get Big by Being Small

When dentists take on the responsibility of managing their own practice, they always aspire for one thing and that is to see their practice expand. Every big corporation we know of right now have humble beginnings. For instance, the multinational company which sells sporting goods which we know of as Nike sold its first product from the trunk of a car. The first custom-built computer that Dell ever sold was shipped from a college dorm room. And the well-loved Starbucks evolved from a mom and pop coffee shop.

It’s ironic to think now that being big isn’t all that there is. In order for your practice to get big, you need to act small. There are a lot of advantages to being a “small” practice which patients find endearing. Here are a number of ways for you to get big by acting small.

Strive to be the best.

Although you need to keep an eye on your profits, you also need to understand that it’s not all about sales. You will become impersonal and lose beloved patients when you start thinking of them as nothing but moneybags. You should instead strive to deliver excellent service instead of just focusing your sole attention on expansion. When you are just as dedicated to your patients as you are to your own goals, then you are rewarded not just through your patients’ loyalty but also through word-of-mouth referral.

When you have already built a reputation of being the best in your craft, you will then be afforded the means to expand. You’ll know that you have the ability to capture a bigger market because of your dedication and the credibility which you have solidly built through the years and that is one of the most important requisites to expanding your practice.

Love your practice.

Practices which flourish are those which were founded not just because of the desire to make money but out of genuine love and passion. When you are passionate towards helping your patients have topnotch dental health, they’ll be able to spot that and will not only appreciate your genuine concern but they may also realize the imperative need to take care of their teeth which again helps your practice. And your passion should be shared by your employees as well. This is why you should select the members of your staff properly and not just settle for live bodies.

Elliot likes writing and is interested in Dental Marketing and Dental Practice SEO. Please take care of your teeth.
