The Downtown San Jose Street Life Plan (DSJSLP) proposes a menu of 29 “a la carte” district-wide projects; it identifies 11 focus areas for these projects: Streets and routes of significant importance to the improvement of Downtown’s public realm.

How can downtown San Jose make its downtown public realms more attractive? How can the neighborhood build on the business momentum it has demonstrated in the last year?
The area’s merchants are exploring ways to energize the city’s core, lure new projects and link up elements of the neighborhood that are already doing well. Part of that effort included hiring CMG Landscape Architecture to create visions of downtown’s future, which you can see in the accompanying slides.
CMG presented its report, the culmination of eight months of work, to the San Jose Downtown Association and the Property-Based Improvement District (a self-funded non-profit managed by the SJDA), last week. The ideas that CMG presented were just that — ideas — not concrete proposals.
Take a look at the menu of streetscape elements CMG suggested in the slides and discuss in the comments below.
